Material Handling Robot's End of Arm Tooling Design


SUMMARY
Designed new end of arm tooling for a FANUC material handling robot (MHR) at a spot welding workstation.
Why?
The current MHR cannot access the BTM Press Machine inside the workstation, so the operator has to manually move the part to the loading fixture
ACHIEVEMENTS
Newly designed MHR can access all machines within the workstation, reducing 4 seconds per cycle from the operator loading cycle time
Improved station efficiency, enabling single-operator functionality → $100 000 CAD in annual savings when one operator is reduced in the day and afternoon shift
