Key Guard Design

SUMMARY

Implemented a key guard for the Euchner Multifunctional Gate Boxes
Why?
The keys were prone to breakage due to excessive applied force by technicians or bumping from part delivery carts. When a workstation whose key is broken shuts down, the entire production shuts down consequently.

ACHIEVEMENTS

• Shields the key or switch from being hit by tools, parts, or body contact

• Reduces production downtime caused by repair and maintenance

• Potential annual savings of $14 490 CAD in key replacement costs (14 keys replaced at $1035 CAD each in 2024)
